With NFS I also couldn't get FCPX to lock the open libraries, but that was because QFinder tampers with the nfs.conf and adds the value 'locallocks'.

SMB is super unreliable for me - looks like a permission issue - and was wondering if any of you have an idea of what could be wrong or how to go about finding it!? This is all on a newly formatted High Sierra Macbook Pro Touchbar 15" 2017 via Thunderbolt 3 (but this bad SMB behaviour is identical on my older Mac Pro 2008 through the 1Gbps connection). When using NFS, the copy goes without problems. In addition to the above, when using chronosync to copy files from my other drives to the NAS, and mounted through SMB, I get 'file not found' errors, and it copies some motion templates completely messed up. The twist is that if I duplicate the library while in the SMB mount, FCPX opens it, which makes me think it's a sort of permission issue? New libraries created on the SMB share seem to work (though I've done no extensive testing yet). If I mount the same share via NFS, FCP X opens it properly. What seems to stop me is that when opening my older libraries that I've copied to the NAS, FCP X freezes on load (tech details at the end).
